To ensure the survival of his collection, he offered it to the nation as long as a payment of £20.000 was made to his surviving heirs the first collections were placed in Montague House, Bloomsbury. A seventeen century mansion once situated on the same foundations as the current museum
The British Museum is divided into three sections its upper, main, and lower floors the sections cover artefacts and exhibitions from all continents of the world and includes a restaurant and café bars
