First opened in 1881 and situated on Exhibition Road, Kensington, the Museum is famous amongst other things for its collection of dinosaur remains and dinosaur exhibitions. There are almost 70 million items in the Museum, 80,000 of which were originally collected by Hans Sloan who collected many specimens in the 1800s. The Museum's massive collection ranges from bizarre insects, meteors, animals fossils & plants and includes a plethora of rocks and minerals.
The Museum has its own library with a huge array of natural history materials, books, paintings, prints, and manuscripts. Unsurprisingly, it is known to be one of the best in the world.
