Built almost 1000 years ago, the Tower of London has a long and fascinating history.

The foundations were first put down in 1078, when William the Conqueror gave the order for the White Tower to be built.  This Tower was the main part of the palace where the King and Queen resided.  Since then, the building has been changed and added to by the various Kings and Queens of the centuries and is one of the most ancient of prisons in Europe.

Divided into 7 parts, it dates from the early 1500′s and is home to the Crown Jewels.  In it’s past, it has been a castle, fortress, prison and palace, a fascinating testament to the rich and varied history of London and that of the history of England itself.

Stay at the Regency House Hotel and visit the Tower of London, a short Underground ride from our Hotel.
